What’s in the news lately?

Senate Republicans Pass Massive Tax Reform Bill

The Senate has passed a nearly $1.5 trillion Republican tax bill that’s historic in scope and an urgent political priority for President Donald Trump and the GOP.

The vote was 51-49, largely along party lines. Not a single Democrat voted in favor of the legislation, which was crafted behind closed doors by Senate Republican leaders. Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, who calls the growing debt a national security threat, joined Democrats in opposing the bill.

The bill lays the bulk of its tax cuts on businesses and higher-earning individuals and gives more modest breaks to others.

It would bring the first major overhaul of the U.S. tax system in three decades. The measure must be reconciled with a version the House passed last month.

That’s just great, tax cuts for the wealthy, so how are we going to pay for them?

Republicans Will Cut Social Security and Medicare After Tax Plan Passes, Says Marco Rubio

Florida Senator Marco Rubio admits that the Republican tax cut plan to aid corporations and the wealthy will require cuts to Social Security and Medicare to pay for it.

Rubio told reporters this week that in order to address the federal deficit, which will grow by at least $1 trillion if the tax plan passes, Congress will need to cut entitlement programs such as Social Security. Advocates for the elderly and the poor have warned that entitlement programs would be on the chopping block, but this is the first time a prominent Republican has backed their claims.

“We have to do two things. We have to generate economic growth which generates revenue, while reducing spending. That will mean instituting structural changes to Social Security and Medicare for the future,” Rubio told a crowd at a Politico conference. Rubio’s talk of structural change is vague, but will likely include changing the rate and age of Social Security and Medicare payouts.

Republicans have long said that the growth generated from slashing corporate tax rates from 35 percent to 20 percent would make their tax cuts “revenue neutral,” but there’s no evidence they’re right. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the Senate tax plan would increase the U.S. deficit by $1.4 trillion over the next decade, and the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation has said the plan will only boost economic growth by 0.8 percent over the next decade, leaving $1 billion in cuts unpaid for.

So where does that money come from?

The simple answer is Social Security and Medicare, which together comprise 38 percent of the total federal budget, second only to military spending.

“The driver of our debt is the structure of Social Security and Medicare for future beneficiaries,” said Rubio.

Other key Republicans have hinted that after the tax bill passes they’ll take on welfare and entitlement programs. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said that he wants Republicans to reduce spending on government programs in 2018, and last month President Donald Trump said that welfare reform will, “take place right after taxes, very soon, very shortly after taxes.”

Senate Finance Committee Chair Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said Thursday that “liberal programs” for the poor were wasting Americans’ money.

“What’s coming next is all too predictable: The deficit hawks will come flying back after this bill becomes law,” said Senator Ron Wyden, (D-Ore.) “Republicans are already saying ‘entitlement reform’ and ‘welfare reform’ are next up on the docket. But nobody should be fooled—that’s just code for attacks on Medicaid, on Medicare, on Social Security, on anti-hunger programs.”

Republican senators say their bill helps the middle class, but most analysis of the plan shows that it increases taxes on low-income Americans, and significantly aids wealthy business owners. Cuts to welfare and safety net programs would directly impact the poorest and most vulnerable Americans.

The Republican view on entitlement spending is reminiscent of President Ronald Reagan’s, who also defunded a number of welfare programs to pay for his tax cuts.

In order to remain solvent, changes do need to be made to entitlement programs. Both Social Security and Medicare programs are on a fiscally unsustainable path—Medicare’s hospital insurance trust fund will be exhausted by 2029 and Social Security’s trust fund will be exhausted by 2034.

Sen. Chuck Schumer Shames GOP Tax Bill: It’s A ‘Stunning Deception

I see 100% of the Democrats voting against this tax scam travesty and 100% minus one of the GOP voting for it. How is this dualistic division artificial? What’s your point? You saying we shouldn’t oppose those who are f*cking us over and we shouldn’t support those who are trying to prevent it?

Tax breaks are good…

But what no one is comprehending is….doesn’t matter.

As long as “the world” is willing to trade with countries paying slave wages…you cannot compete…..period.

There are two options…

You either make the slave wage nations raise their pay to citizens and the cost of their products accordingly…

or you keep cutting the wages of your native workforce in order to compete…

Guess which one both parties have agreed on…

Before implementing a Income Tax the Government used to get it’s operating capital mostly from import taxes. They also used to use these “tariffs” to protect the American manufacturing base and by fiat the jobs that went with them. Quite simply if a foreign manufacturer was bringing shoes into the country at $10 per pair and those shoes would cost $25 to be produced here, they put a $15 dollar tariff on them which went into the governmental coffer.

We could do that again and the manufacturing jobs would return and Uncle Sam wouldn’t have to lean on us so hard for money.

Walker moving ahead with plan to drug test food stamp users

-MSM.com

The Walker administration estimated that a small fraction of the program’s applicants — 220, or 0.3 percent, of the 67,400 applicants a year — would actually test positive for drugs.

Walker has touted the drug testing as a way to put more drug-free workers into the workplace.

The State of Wisconsin is NOT going to spend money drug testing a large percentage of 67,400 applicants a year so it can kick three tenths of one percent off the Federal Government’s dole. Food Stamps is a federal program that brings money into the state, and it would be counterproductive to spend money to cut their own income.

Three tenth of one percent, they don’t even have a problem, this is nothing more than political grandstanding.

I feel like a loser

Loser said:
Have always been single. Turned 35 in October and started a new job in November.

Need the job, but don’t like it. The job description does not match what I am doing at all. They are having me open incoming mail, sorting and delivering the mail inside the facility. As well as transferring files. The jobs description did not say anything about this. I am overqualified for the job. Just have to learn their system. They are using different applications to transfer files.

I have done this job in the past with a different agency…. and even got promoted to adjudicating claims. And now I feel, as if I am way at the bottom. They are paying me less. I took the job, because after three months of looking I didnt find anything else.

Not sure if I have a future there or how long I will stay.

Always wanted to start a family of my own. Not sure if I will ever meet my other half.

Will things get better? I just want to find a job that I enjoy doing and am good at.

Get married, have a family of my own and a house. To be happy and enjoy life.

At this point, I am not sure if these things will happen.

If you are truly a psychic and have a message for me, please share. What do you see for me?

What am I doing wrong in life?

thank you

We are all losers, forget about the family if it entails bringing more losers into the world. The world is the Camel, the Losers are the Straw which have long since broke the Camel’s back. I think cultivating more straw to heap upon a disabled pack animal when the near future does not bode well for either is nothing short of selfish.

AS far as the job goes, I don’t know what to tell you. I look around and see, with one exception, every species on this planet existing in contentedness without a job. Their Creator figured out a way that their needs with a little effort on their part are provided for. This was once true of humans even before they became agriculturally adept. Even now, plenty of Primates in the world are still getting by off the fat of the land. Jobs are nothing but straw fertilizer, and are directly to blame for the destruction of this planet, yet in this day and age I guess you need one to get by.

You didn’t complain about being cold or hungry so your income must be sufficient to survive on. Therefore your only problem is,,, You need an attitude adjustment. I feel like a loser, makes it sound like you’re not happy and happiness is state of mind which you can manage. States of Mind do not have to depend upon external factors such as perceived shortcomings in your relationships and employment, you can choose to be happy just for the sake of being happy. From that perspective you could never feel like a loser, unless doing so made you feel happy.

That doesn’t mean you can’t try to improve your lot in life and that improvement doesn’t necessarily mean you have to increase the Camel’s burden. Best of luck, I wish you nothing but well in your quest!

Paul Craig Roberts: America Is Walking Into Armageddon!!!

American economist Paul Craig Roberts has warned that America is walking into Armageddon, with Deep State Prestitutes pushing for a war with Russia.

Paulcraigroberts.org reports: The orchestrated hostility toward Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea protects the $1,000 billion annual budget of the military/security complex by convincing the American public that the US is threatened by enemies. It also keeps alive Democratic Party hopes that Trump can be removed from office, and it has prevented President Trump from normalizing relations with Russia. I have emphasized for some time that Washington’s gratuitous and aggressive actions against Russia and the constant barrage of false accusations against Russia and its government have convinced Russia that Washington is planning a military attack. There is nothing more reckless and irresponsible than to convince a nuclear superpower that you are preparing an attack on them.

One would think that such irresponsible and reckless behavior would have the citizenry aroused and the media reporting the risk. Yet, there is only silence. It is more important to the media whether NFL players stand for the national anthem and that some male politicians show sexual interest in women in inappropriate ways. Insouciant America is walking into Armageddon.

A few days ago former US Secretary of Defense William J. Perry added his voice to mine and to those of the few who understand the danger.

Perry said:

“When the Cold War ended, I believed that we no longer had to take that risk [nuclear annihilation] so I put all my energy into efforts to dismantle the deadly nuclear legacy of the Cold War. During my period as the Secretary of Defense in the 90s, I oversaw the dismantlement of 8,000 nuclear weapons evenly divided between the United States and the former Soviet Union. And I thought then that we were well on our way to putting behind us this deadly existential threat, But that was not to be. Today, inexplicably to me, we’re recreating the geopolitical hostility of the Cold War, and we’re rebuilding the nuclear dangers.

… We are doing this without any serious public discussion or any real understanding of the consequences of these actions. We are sleepwalking into a new Cold War, and there’s very real danger that we will blunder into a nuclear war. If we are to prevent this catastrophe, the public must understand what is happening.”

How can the American public understand when they do not know, because the few voices telling them are not reported. Indeed, the military/security complex, the Israel Lobby and the lobby’s American agents among the neoconservatives are actively working to discredit those who are aware of the dangerous situation.

The power of the military/security complex and the Israel Lobby, the two prime war-mongers of the 21st century, have immobilized the President of the United States. Trump is helpless in the face of a special prosecutor who is “investigating Russiagate,” a hoax created for the express purpose of preventing President Trump from restoring normal relations with a nuclear superpower.

Experts including William Binney, who developed the universal spy program for NSA thinking mistakenly that it would not be used against American citizens, have stated publicly that, if Russiagate were real and not an orchestrated hoax, the NSA would have all the evidence, making special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s “investigation” completely pointless.

One would think that even those who comprise the presstitute media would be able to figure out that NSA has the evidence if it exists.

Instead, the presstitutes cooperate with Mueller in creating a fake news story, one that has been kept alive for over a year.

The ANTIFA oppose literal Nazis face to face with baseball bats, not prayer groups a block away with bullhorns. After watching the video, I think there’s a good chance the pretenders were right-wingers running an amateurish smear campaign.

Obama drove our country into economic devastation by increasing taxes and driving our jobs overseas.

The only way to build an economy is to build factories, create lots of jobs, and sell real goods for profit.

Anything else is just moving debt around to create the illusion of success.

Our corporate tax rate is now lower than China’s. That’s an incentive to keep jobs here.

Hopefully there will be more incentives. This tax plan was a good start. We’re only beginning to rebuild our economy.

What do you get when you cross a Parrot with a Sheep? People who believe the aforeposted BS! Every time taxes are cut on the wealthy this Nation experiences a recession. The rich are not going to sink their tax windfalls into their businesses, business ventures are a hassle and rich people don’t need the hassle. If the Shoes of the wealthy was on my feet, I can tell you right now, you can go screw off.

What made the American middle class the wealthiest the world had ever seen, (When it was such.) was heavy taxes on the wealthy. The wealthy avoided paying taxes by reinvesting their profits in their businesses. That’s how they got wealthier (More Power to them.), that’s how we all came to be better off, now all rich has to do is sit on their asses to expand their bottom line.

We are on the cusp of yet another Great Recession and I hope this time the reason why sinks into your numb skulls. And just to be polite whilst being stuck in my own high mileage loafers, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Everything in moderation, I read in the paper a few years back that the inventor of Ramen Noodle soup had just died. He was 91 and had a bowl of his soup that very day. South Koreans eat the most instant noodles per capita and their life expectancy is 82 and going up. I think I may go see Star Wars tonight

To each his own. I came across a written review for the “Valerian SciFi” a few weeks ago and up till then I’d never heard of it. It was interesting so I followed the link to a Youtube Movie Trailer and it went from interesting to mind blowing! Now I was hooked, so I started reading the comments and 70% of the ones left by people who had seen the flick were negative.

So a few days later when I noticed the movie on a shelf in a Walmart I almost left it there, so glad I didn’t! The lousy plot and the sub-par acting by the main characters never materialized for me and I thought the portrayal of both those angles was stellar and the visual side of the movie was well beyond that.

The point is, if you enjoyed the last Star Wars movie The Force Awakens, then you’ll probably like the new one as well. When it comes to movies the nattering nabobs can only speak for themselves, go catch your flick, I won’t be far behind you!

North America is currently experiencing the most unusually cold air of any region

Want warmth? Head to Alaska

The frigid weather in the Midwest and East is coming courtesy of a sharp southerly bend in the jet stream, which is allowing an eddy of the polar vortex to slip out of its Arctic confines, and invade the lower 48 states. It’s a throwback to last winter — only colder.

The western part of North America — including the Western U.S., parts of Canada and nearly all of Alaska — have been on the other side of the same jet stream. Instead of a trough that allows cold air to filter south, these regions have been under the seemingly never-ending influence of a massive ridge, or northward excursion, of the jet stream. This is causing these areas to have much higher-than-average temperatures.

____________________

We’ve already had this discussion. To put it simply, these abnormal cold snaps are caused by air spilling out of the arctic. That causes warmer air from elsewhere to get sucked into the arctic which causes the arctic to thaw even quicker. At this point the phenomenon is an automated positive feedback loop. Check out the temp for Anchorage or Fairbanks those places should be -20 to -30 this time of year. Near or above freezing as projected in the upcoming days is 60 degrees above normal!

In a decade or two when arctic is mostly ice free these cold snaps will no longer be a issue.

However…
